Eliminating preventable vision impairment as a barrier to education and opportunity.
Ukubona Foundation is a South African registered non-profit organisation (NPO) and Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) dedicated to eliminating preventable vision impairment as a barrier to education and opportunity.
Since 2017, we have partnered with schools, healthcare professionals, corporate partners, and communities to provide comprehensive eye care services to children from underserved township, rural, and special needs schools.
Our work extends beyond vision screening. We conduct comprehensive eye examinations, provide prescription spectacles, educate learners, parents, and teachers on eye health, and advocate for early detection of visual problems that often go unnoticed in the classroom. Because up to 80% of learning is visual, restoring a child's sight can dramatically improve educational outcomes, confidence, and long-term quality of life.
We believe that no child should be disadvantaged simply because they cannot see clearly. Through sustainable partnerships and community-driven programs, we are building a future where every learner has the opportunity to reach their full potential through the gift of clear vision.
